CEBU CITY — A 22-year-old mall worker was killed while three others including a pregnant woman were wounded after they were shot by unidentified gunmen on board a motorcycle in Lapu-Lapu on Tuesday night.
Leo Amason, who worked as sales clerk of Gaisano Grand Mall and resident of Iba, Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, was hit in the back. The bullet, however, exited his chest.
He died at 11:30 p.m. at the Mactan Doctors Hospital in Lapu-Lapu.
Wounded were Renato Alindahao Aballe, 20 who worked as utility clerk of Gaisano Grand Mall; Jennifer Apat Galleos, 22, who was pregnant and employee of Fairchild Semiconductor Philippines at the Mactan Export Zone (MEZ); and tricycle driver Locaman tawo-tawo Dealangan, 42.
They suffered bullets wounds in the back and were brought to Mactan Doctors Hospital for treatment.
Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide, Lapu-Lapu City Homicide Section chief, said Amason, Aballe and Galleos were riding separate tricycles.
Amason and Aballe were on board one tricycle, while Galleos was riding on another tricycle driven by Dealangan.
The two gunmen were on a motorcycle which was following the tricycle of Dealangan.
Upon reaching Hangar Road at 9:30 p.m., the backrider of the motorcycle shot the tricycle of Dealangan, hitting the driver and Galleos.
But the bullets also hit the two mall workers who were in another tricycle that was in front of Dealangan’s tricycle.
Pastorfide said they had yet to determine the real target of the gunmen.
