COTABATO CITY—Hadja Raifa Sani Raki-in Adiong, the chapter president of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) in Lanao del Sur, died of a lingering illness early Wednesday at St. Luke’s Medical Center, her husband, Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. said.
She was 48.
Until her death, Mrs. Adiong was also vice-chair of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Tourism Council, and was the First Lady of the Province.
Gov. Adiong said his wife had been diagnosed with an advanced state of cancer of the blood cells, and had frequently been confined in hospitals.
She is survived by her parents, five children, her husband, and mother in-law, Bai Soraya Alonto-Adiong.
Her remains will be interred within the day in accordance with the the Sharia Law, Gov. Adiong said.
