ZAMBOANGA CITY – Abu Sayyaf bandits killed two soldiers during an ambush in Patikul, Sulu on Tuesday.
Major General Demy Tejares, deputy commander of the Joint Task Force Zambasulta (Zamboanga, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi), said the two soldiers, both members of the intelligence unit of the 10th Infantry Battalion, were on a motorcycle and were heading for Barangay (village) Buhanginan when ambushed around 8:10 a.m. in Barangay Igasan.
He said the soldiers, whom he did not identify, had come from “a personal meeting” and were on their way back to camp when waylaid.
“Two of our intelligence personnel were killed,” Tejares said.
Tejares said Abu Sayyaf bandits under Morasil Mudjahirin were behind the ambush. CDG
