Jovito Salonga honored, remembered at Senate

Former and incumbent senators and government officials paid tribute to late Senate President Jovito Salonga during his necrological services at the Senate on Tuesday.

The necrological services attended by former and incumbent senators, congressmen and government officials, began around 10:00 a.m.

Wheelchair-bound former Senator Rene Saguisag was the first to deliver his eulogy for the late senator.

In attendance were Senate President Franklin Drilon, Senators Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Bam Aquino, and Teofisto Guingona III, former senators Teofisto Guingona Jr., Rodolfo Biazon, Alfredo Lim, Heherson Alvarez, Letecia Ramos-Shahani, Wigberto Tañada, and Edgardo Angara.

A Senate resolution honoring Salonga will be presented later to his family.

Salonga succumbed to cardiac arrest at the Philippine Heart Center last Thursday, March 10. CDG
