27 students treated for food poisoning in Cagayan
CITY OF CAUAYAN—Twenty-seven students, who consumed catered food inside the school, have been confined for food poisoning since Friday at hospitals in the Cagayan town of Gattaran.
Jerome Casistimo, a hospital nurse, said the 27 students from Don Mariano Marcos High School suffered severe diarrhea, stomach ache, and nausea shortly after they were served igado, a meal composed of thinly-sliced pork belly and liver.
Doctors said the 25 girls and 2 boys under their care were out of danger and recuperating.
The Department of Health has yet to submit the results of the laboratory examination of the food they ate.
