PNP mulls poll-related duties for new cops in May

CAMP CASTAÑEDA, Silang, Cavite — The Philippine National Police may deploy the new graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy to election-related duties in May.

PNP Director General Ricardo Marquez said their newest police inspectors might be sent on patrol duties on the streets.

“We badly need patrol supervisors and team leaders on the streets,” said Marquez in an interview after the PNPA graduation on Thursday.

The PNP chief swore into office the newly police inspectors from the PNPA Masundayao Class of 2016.

Of the 253 graduates, 215 will be joining the 160,000-strong PNP. Twenty-two others will be joining the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, while 16 will join the Bureau of Fire Protection.  SFM
