The joint forces of transport groups Acto, Fejodap and Pasang Masda on Thursday declared their whole support for Liberal Party presidential bet Mar Roxas.
Acto stands for Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations. Fejodap is acronym for Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines.
“We held a meeting to assess the platforms of the candidates and our organizations [came with a conclusing] that only Mar Roxas has a clear vision for transport groups,” the groups said in a statement written in Filipino.
“It’s clear that he wants modernization and he gave his word that he won’t allow ‘the phaseout of jeepneys’ without concrete alternative and support from the government for the drivers. That’s why we are not worried that the time will come, maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, there will be no more food on the table for our families,” it added.
The groups said with Roxas, there will be continuous support from the whole administration that he’s going to lead if he wins the presidency. “Like us, he believes that jobs and livelihood for all are the ones needed for us to progress together while trudging the right path,” they added.
“Mapayapa ang aming loob na si Presidente Mar ang s’yang makakatuwang namin at ng aming pamilya sa tuloy tuloy na pagtupad nang aming pangarap na magandang buhay.”
(With a peaceful demeanor, [we believe] that it’s President Mar who will be our and our families’ partner in the continuous struggle to reach our dreams of a better life.)
