Prosecutor sets preliminary probe on hotel manager’s slay on Mar. 22, 29; suspects still no-show

MANILA — The Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office has scheduled the preliminary investigation of the murder complaint in connection with the death of 26-year-old Solaire hotel manager Edgel Joy Durolfo for March 22.

Senior Supt. Ariel Andrade, the city’s chief of police said another hearing at the prosecutor’s office was scheduled for March 29.

Andrade said the four suspects in Durolfo’s death on Feb. 26 — her live-in partner Rodney Ynchausti and his friends Josiebell Uy, Molo Hwang and Paul Egoc — have not issued statements to the police, nor have they appeared at the police station since Durolfo’s death.

“If they would issue statements, then they should submit them to the prosecutor’s office already,” he said.

He said the results of the toxicology examination on Durolfo have not been released yet.

“It will be the (Scene of the Crime Operatives) that will submit that already, once the (Prosecutor’s Office) calls them,” he said.

Police findings showed that Durolfo and the suspects went to one of the rooms of the Solaire resort hotel in Parañaque City for a get-together party wherein they apparently took in Ecstasy tablets.  A closed circuit television camera of the hotel recorded the suspects carrying out Durolfo towards the hotel clinic later. She was rushed to a city hospital unconscious and died there hours later. An autopsy report showed that she died of strangulation.  She also had bruises on her arms.  These facts prompted the police to file murder complaints against the suspects.  SFM
