FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City — Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy on Wednesday (Mar. 9) discussed the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law with Mohagher Iqbal, chief negotiator of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and lawyer Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, government peace panel chair.
Maj. Gen. Donato San Juan II, PMA superintendent, said the forum provided cadets a perspective on efforts to build peace and end decades of war in Mindanao. “Is peace possible?” he asked.
San Juan said the effort to bring peace to Mindanao has fueled by a backdrop of deep-seated sensitivities. But he said the country would have to unify and address the issues of a new century. SFM
