Former Napoles lawyer nabbed for selling fake CA resolutions

A FORMER lawyer of alleged P10-billion pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles has been arrested for allegedly selling fake Court of Appeals resolutions, according to the National Bureau of Investigation.

Supervising Agent Norman B. Anire identified the lawyer as Marie Frances E. Ramon, 37, formerly connected with the law firm of Lorna Kapunan, who was also Napoles’ lawyer.

Anire said Ramon was arrested in an entrapment operation following the complaint of the mother of a man convicted of possession of illegal drugs and whose appeal was being heard in the Court of Appeals.

“We were able to obtain a certification from the Court of Appeals that no decision had been promulgated on the appeal of the complainant,” Anire said.

The NBI agent said receipts submitted as evidence against Ramon showed the complainant had given her close to P1 million.

“The family of the complainant mortgaged their home to pay for a reversal of conviction but all the money went to the supposed gambling debts of the lawyer,” Anire said.

The NBI said Ramon also had faced various cases of selling fake resolutions in housing cases, but these were eventually dropped after the complainants failed to pursue the charges.
