The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) has partnered with different government agencies to hand out treats for Filipinas in celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
On Tuesday, all women can get free rides in all LRT-2 and MRT-3 stations from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. This was the result of a partnership by the PCW and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
PCW also partnered with the Office of the Ombudsman to give 50 percent discount on the application fee for the Ombudsman Clearance. All women walk-in applicants can get the discount on Tuesday at the Ombudsman’s main office in Quezon City and all its regional offices.
Meanwhile, admission to all female guests in the National Museum and its select branches nationwide is waived from March 1 to 31 in celebration of the International Women’s Month.

For this year’s celebration, the PCW chose the theme “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda,” a call for gender balance in leadership posts in the private and public sectors and the inclusion of women’s concerns in the government’s development agenda.
Under Proclamation No. 277, S. 1988, March is declared as Women’s Month. On the other hand, March 8 was declared as National Women’s Day by virtue of Republic Act 6949 or “An Act to Declare March Eight of Every Year as a Working Special Holiday to be Known as National Women’s Day.” AJH/CDG
