Cop’s brother sought for shooting of Binondo village watchman

MANILA, Philippines — A brother of a police officer is facing a frustrated murder charge for allegedly shooting a barangay (village) watchman in Binondo on Sunday night.

Fernando Cajipe has yet to be arrested. His brother, SPO1 Ferdinand Cajipe, appeared at Meisic Police Station, Manila police’s station 11, and promised to help solve this case.

Fernando’s victim, Sherwin Lacanlale, was shot in the right ear, with the bullet exiting through his left jaw.

The motive for the attack is still unclear as the police have not been able to interview the victim because his injury has left him unable to speak.  He remains confined atthe  Jose Abad Santos Memorial Medical Center.

Lacanlale’s sister Sharon Lacanlale told investigators that they found out who tried to kill him through a note handed out to her:  “Kapatid ni Buboy Cajipe (Brother of Buboy Cajipe),” wrote Lacanlale.

A camera footage taken from Ariaran street at the corner of Camba street showed Fernando punching Lacanlale. Then a chase reportedly ensued and what happened after that was beyond the scope of the camera.  SFM
