Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chairman Ireneo “Ayong” Maliksi faces another case at the Office of the Ombudsman for allegedly maintaining “ghost employees” in his office.
This was after advocacy group, Filipino Alliance for Transparency and Empowerment (Fate) filed on Monday a case of Estafa through falsification of public documents under Articles 315 and 171 of the Revised Penal Code and an administrative case for dishonesty against Maliksi.
In the 4-page complaint affidavit sworn by Fate president Jennifer Castro, the case stemmed from Maliksi’s hiring of 19 confidential agents assigned at his office. The contract of the said agents were renewed by Maliksi and are in effect up to April 1 this year.
But according to information, Fate allleged that these confidential agents were not being seen at Maliksi’s office at PCSO, while continuing to receive their salaries since their Daily Time Records are being signed.
PCSO employees union in other reports also divulged that these agents hired by Maliksi were not being seen inside their building.
Castro said that their group unveiled the supposed anomaly after Maliksi’s driver, Celestino Aman continually receives his salary despite already being deceased last July 2015.
Fate said that Maliksi cannot use the alibi that he does no know that Aman is already dead since he is his personal driver and he is the one who pushed for the release of medical assistance worth millions for Aman.
The group said that Maliksi should do a lot of explaining in hiring employees who do not report for work while using the people’s money for their salaries.
