President Aquino has appointed lawyer Teofilo Pilando Jr. as the new chairperson of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) effective Feb. 29.
Pilando will serve until Aug. 26, 2022, completing the unexpired term of Dr. Florentino Doble who resigned his post.
Doble headed the PRC for only 14 months.
Pilando was the Deputy Executive Secretary for General Administration in the Office of the President.
According to Malacañang, Pilando earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines in 1985 and passed the bar examinations the year after.
Pilando served as national president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and became an arbitrator for the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce.
Pilando also worked as a consultant on utilities regulation and privatization and on corporate governance for the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank respectively, Malacañang said.
He also served the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Task Force on International Refugee Assistance and Administration in the Philippines.
