The multisectoral people’s organization and party-list group Sanlakas declared it has allied with Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero in a bid to stop the rise of Escudero’s closest rival in the vice presidential race, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In a statement. Manjette Lopez, Sanlakas president, said her group, one of the original party-list groups to win seats in the House in 1998, “adds its voice to a chorus of human rights victims and antidictatorship activists in their campaign against a Marcos restoration.”
“We remember not only the lives lost and torn by extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, torture and other human rights violations by the Marcos regime,” said Lopez.
“More so, we should not disregard the billions of dollars plundered by the Marcoses and their cronies,” said Lopez.
Labor leader and Sanlakas party-list nominee Leody De Guzman said Sanlakas “is one with the Never Again Campaign in thwarting the electoral bid of another Marcos in power.”
To do this, De Guzman said that Sanlakas has forged an alliance with Escudero, Marcos’ leading adversary.
“An Escudero victory will certainly stop Bongbong in his tracks,” said De Guzman.
