MANILA — A coach of the Philippine Sailing Team was released from jail after the parents of a 14-year-old boy who drowned during training decided not to press charges against him.
Felipe Mosquera was allowed to leave the Manila Police District’s homicide section Tuesday afternoon after the family of the victim executed an affidavit of desistance, the Philippine Daily Inquirer learned.
PO3 Michael Marragun, the officer on the case, said Mosquera’s release order was signed by the inquest prosecutor, Joven Senados.
A complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide was earlier filed against Mosquera for the death of Clarence Jhon Sanchez, who drowned in Manila Bay while training under his watch on Sunday.
