KIDAPAWAN CITY – Unidentified armed men blasted anew the steel power tower in Barangay Pagangan in Aleosan, North Cotabato on Wednesday, which was also bombed on January 14 but as in the previous incident, the explosion also failed to topple down the power pylon.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, spokesperson of the North Cotabato Police Office, said the armed men strapped improvised explosive devices on the foundations of Tower No. 63 of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines and set them off around 12:10 a.m.
Apparently, only one of the IEDs went off but did not topple the pylon. Another IED was recovered still strapped to two more posts of the said structure.
“It was the village chair that reported to the Aleosan PNP that a loud explosion transpired in the area where the NGCP tower is located,” Tayong said.
He said the explosion cut off some wires, which caused massive power outages in the province and in Maguindanao. CDG
