2 women nabbed in P13-M drug bust in Lipa City

LIPA CITY — Two women keeping more than P13-million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were arrested by policemen in a drug buy bust in Barangay 7 here on Monday afternoon, police said on Tuesday.

Cecille Cordova, 34, and Francie Grace Calderon, 27, were arrested outside their rented apartment in this city after a policeman, who posed as a buyer, handed them P3,000 as payment for an undetermined amount of shabu, said Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo, Lipa City police chief.

Recovered from the suspects were 1.465 kilograms of shabu worth P13.18 million, P10,000 cash, three digital weighing scales, and three mobile phones.

Also recovered were bank deposit slips and a notebook containing a list of different cities and towns in Batangas province.

Dasugo said the police would coordinate with bank officials so they can study the suspects’ transactions.

“It’s possible they use these accounts to remit income after selling illegal drugs,” he said.
