Taguig City to check homes for fire hazards

THE Taguig City government will conduct a house-to-house inspection of all its 28 barangays starting this week in line with Fire Prevention Month.

Taguig City Fire Marshal Chief Insp. Juanito Maslang said teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection will not only look for fire hazards but also share fire prevention tips among household members. Aside from the house visits, the BFP said it would conduct this month its yearly firefighting training programs for village officials and residents.

A “Fire Olympics” where they can practice their emergency response will be held from March 16 to 18. Based on the records of the Taguig Central Fire Station, the city was hit by a total of 245 fires last year, mostly during the summer months.

“Awareness and discipline are the first steps toward preparedness, which will then make way for prevention. With that, we encourage everyone not to disregard the efforts of the city and the local BFP toward this purpose,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said Sunday in support of the campaign. Maricar B. Brizuela
