Binay to roll out ‘yellow card’ program nationwide if elected president

United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) standard bearer Vice President Jejomar Binay vowed that he will implement the Makati “yellow card” program nationwide should he become the country’s next president.

In his campaign sortie in Manila on Sunday, Binay said that under his presidency, Filipinos will expect free maternal, child, and elderly care, free outpatient consultations and medicines, and government subsidized hospitalization—the benefits first enjoyed by Makati City residents under his term as mayor.

“Sa Makati, wala hong mahirap na namamatay sa sakit dahil sa kahirapan. Bawal po ‘yan. Lahat ng kailangan, kahit na milyong piso pa ang kailangan, ‘yun hong gamot at pagpapa-ospital, libre sa mga mahihirap na kailangang suportahan,” Binay said.

He said that the program was recognized by United Nations-Habitat Dubai as one of the world’s best practices.

“Kinilala sa buong mundo ang aming Yellow Card na aking gagawin din sa buong bansa,” the presidential candidate said.

Aside from the nationwide implementation of the yellow card, Binay also promised to put up more health centers stocked with medicines and furnished with medical facilities.

During his campaign rally in Manila, he was able to snag the support of a leader in the Filipino-Chinese community.

Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center president Dr. James Dy claimed that the Filipino-Chinese community backs Binay’s presidential bid.

“Our organizations–the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, and the Filipino Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Inc.–my entire clan, and the 1.5 million strong Chinese Filipino community of qualified voters are behind you in this challenge to lead our country to progress,” Dy said.
