Williams regains dunk title

WITH THE LEAGUE’S certified high-flyers skipping the competition, Kelly Williams was virtually unchallenged in ruling the slamdunk competition of the 2011 PBA All-Star Week in Boracay, Aklan.

The high-leaping Talk ’N Text forward defeated Petron Blaze’s rookie guard Rey Guevarra in the final round, 92-84, and ran away with his second dunk title.
Williams, the 2008 champion, was hardly challenged in the event after Gabe Norwood and KG Canaleta opted to skip the competition.

Canaleta won the title—his third—last year at the expense of Williams. Norwood ruled the contested in 2009, foiling Canaleta’s fourth dunk title bid.
The other competitors included Ronald Tubid, Josh Vanlandingham, Elmer Espiritu and JC Intal.

Jonas Villanueva, meanwhile, pocketed his second straight obstacle challenge crown, while Mark Macapagal defended his three-point shooting title. EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
