20th ‘Galugad’ yields fewer contrabands

THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has confiscated fewer contrabands in its 20th raid as part of its “Oplan Galugad.”
Oplan Galugad is a series of raids conducted almost weekly to rid the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) of contrabands and illegal activities.

The Thursday raid was conducted inside Quadrant 2 and 3 of NBP’s Maximum Security Compound specifically at Building 11, BCJ Village, Batman Village Dormb3D-1 and Dorn 3D-2.

Confiscated include 2 LED television sets, standard color TV, 2 audio modulators, 1 speaker, 1 AVR, assorted CDs and DVDs, 23 mobile phones (working and non-working), 20 chargers, 2 USBs, 4 units of signal booster.

Authorities also confiscated 31 pieces bladed weapons, 1 fan knife, 14 baton sticks, 4 ice pick. Only 1 firearm, a .45 caliber ammunition was confiscated.

Also seized from convict Gilbert Simeon was P85,000 cash.

NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf said they also demolished several kubols at the NBP.

The raid was conducted by 160 correction officials, officers and trainees along with media representatives.
