19 arrested in Olongapo drug raid
OLONGAPO CITY — Local authorities raided, on Thursday (Feb. 25) morning, two alleged drug dens in this city, and arrested 19 suspects.
Chief Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Zambales, said the suspects were arrested in Barangay (village) Old Cabalan at 12: 30 a.m. on the strength of search warrants issued by a local court.
The drug bust yielded five sachets containing alleged shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride), two sachets containing alleged dried marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two . 38 caliber revolvers, bladed weapons, and cash.
The suspects are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and possession of weapons in violation of the election gun ban, Mendoza said.
Earlier on Feb. 11, combined elements of CIDG Zambales and local police also arrested 33 people in Barangay Pag-asa here for alleged possession of guns and illegal drugs. SFM
