US embassy in Manila closed on Feb. 25 for Edsa anniversary
The United States (US) embassy in Manila will be closed on February 25, Thursday for the celebration of the Edsa People Power Revolution.
The US embassy in Manila issued a statement on Wednesday which read: “The Embassy of the United States of America in Manila and its affiliated offices will be closed to the public on Thursday, February 25, 2016, for the 30th Anniversary of Edsa Revolution, a Philippine holiday.”
The embassy will open and resume services on Friday, February 26.
On July 8, 2015, President Benigno Aquino III signed Proclamation 1071 declaring Feb. 25, 2016 a holiday.
“It is but fitting and proper that the entire Filipino nation be given the opportunity to observe the milestone in our country’s history,” Aquino said in his proclamation. AJH
