PANTAO RAGAT, Lanao Del Norte—Vice President Jejomar Binay on Tuesday said he would set up a Malacañang in Mindanao to help Muslims feel decentralization in government.

During a campaign rally at a public school here, Binay said he would build a Malacañang in Mindanao as well as in Cebu.

Binay earlier opposed the present form of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) because of its constitutional infirmities.

The BBL, which would have implemented the peace deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to create a more politically autonomous Bangsamoro region, was killed by the 16th Congress.

(I promise you that I will personally address the problems besetting Mindanao. My plan is to establish a Malacañang in Cebu. Similary, I will build a Malacañang here in Mindanao.)
