MMDA assigns 1,159 men to Edsa on Feb. 25

More than 1,000 personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be assigned to Edsa to manage traffic flow, maintain cleanliness and respond to emergencies for the celebration of the 30th Edsa People Power anniversary on Feb. 25.

During the agency’s Sunday radio program, MMDA Chair Emerson Carlos announced the deployment of 1,159 personnel, including traffic enforcers, sidewalk cleaners and emergency response teams.

He said the majority would be assigned to the northbound lane of Edsa from Ortigas to Santolan which would be closed from midnight to 1 p.m. on Feb. 25. Others will direct traffic flow on Shaw Boulevard, Kalayaan Avenue and McKinley Road which will serve as alternate routes. A zipper lane will also be opened on the Edsa southbound lane to accommodate northbound vehicles from SM Megamall to Camp Aguinaldo.

Northbound motorists can also use McKinley Road, Kalayaan Avenue and Pioneer then C-5 or take Roxas Boulevard, Quirino Highway, Osmeña Highway, Ayala Avenue, Gil Puyat Avenue, R. Magsaysay Boulevard and Quezon Avenue. Maricar Brizuela
