Binay: No to death penalty
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Vice President Jejomar Binay on Sunday said he does not support the death penalty, saying taking someone’s life is only up to God.
During the presidential debates here, Binay made the statement when asked if he would bring back death penalty in the country to resolve the prevalence of drugs in the country.
Binay attributed the problem of drugs in the country to poor leadership and law enforcement.
He also lamented that only a few of the cases against drug lords have been resolved.
“Ang problema diyan, mahina ang enforcement. Nandyan po ang illegal drug syndicates. Anong nagagawa? Wala masyadong nahahabla, kung may nahahabla naman, walang nangyayari. Hindi effective, hindi decisive ang leadership,” Binay said.
