PEDICAB driver Christopher dela Cruz has a rather daunting task: Raise P4 million for the liver transplant of his one-year-old son J-ty dela Cruz who has biliary atresia.
J-ty was diagnosed with “decompensated liver disease secondary to neonatal hepatitis” at the Philippine General Hospital on May 18, 2015, just over four months after he was born.
“[The] patient is advised [to undergo] liver transplant and to take maintenance medications while awaiting the procedure,” said Dr. John Paul Oliveros of the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition section of the PGH’s Department of Pediatrics.
Dela Cruz, 27, said that he was being eyed as the primary liver donor for his son. This will depend, however, on the results of screening tests before the transplant is done either at St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City or at a hospital in Taiwan.
“Kindly help me and my partner Jenalyn raise this amount through your newspaper,” Dela Cruz, who has three other children. He can be reached at 0922-9123467 for more information about his son J-ty. Donors may deposit any amount inhis BPI account (#4349-0544-48, account name Christopher dela Cruz).
