Binay hits gov’t underspending in presidential debate last words

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay on Sunday concluded his part in the presidential debates here by hitting the government’s underspending of funds which could have gone to social services.

In his 60-second closing statement, Binay said underspending delayed the government’s delivery of social services.

Binay also boasted of his experience in giving compassion to the poor through social services.

“Batay po sa aking karasanan at tamang pamamahala at magpapamalasakit sa aking kapwa, lalong lalo na ang paghihirap… Tigilan na natin ang underspending. Sinasabi ko po underspending, underperformance, hindi ginagamit ang dapat paggamitan,” Binay said.

“Maraming namamatay dahil hindi nabibigyan ng tamang gamot, hindi makapasok sa tamang ospital, nadedelay ang performance. Ang infrastructure requirement natin, na makakatulong makapagpadami ng kabuhayan, hindi nagagawa. Kaya kailangan po tayong magdagdag ng gastusin ang pera, para mabago po ang ating buhay,” Binay added. JE
