Binay: Leyte residents angry at Roxas because of ‘Yolanda’ response

Roxas defends DOTC record, Yolanda work: Binay disagrees

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay on Sunday called out Mar Roxas as “palpak” in handling the disaster response after super typhoon “Yolanda” hit the country.

Binay made the statement after Roxas boasted of being on the ground when Yolanda struck Leyte.

Binay even said most of the people in Leyte dislike Roxas for his handling of the disaster.

Roxas said he was on the ground, unlike Binay, who took the helicopter to check the damage caused by the monster storm.

Asked for his rebuttal, Binay said he may have ridden the chopper when he visited Leyte but at least he saw the bigger picture of the tragedy.

Binay said he would not be like this administration which only implemented two public private partnership programs in its six year term.

Ako ay decisive at effective leader,” Binay said.

Roxas was then Interior Secretary when super typhoon Yolanda struck Central Philippines and claimed over 6,000 lives.

Roxas, for his part, said he did his part in handling the disaster and he did not politicize the disaster. JE
