CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Philippines — A police assigned in Manila was shot dead outside his home in San Pedro, Laguna on Saturday morning, a police official said.
Senior Police Officer 2 Oscar Mariscotes, who was detailed at the Manila Police District, sustained multiple gunshots after he was gunned down by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle in St. Joseph Homes, Barangay (village) Langgam at around 8:30 a.m., said Superintendent Kirby Kraft, San
Pedro police chief.
Kirby said Mariscotes, who was off-duty, went out for an errand and was about 50 meters from his home, when he was shot.
“Witnesses said that after the gunmen took a U-turn, the passenger at the back of the motorcycle got off and shot Mariscotes at close range,” Kraft said.
This made police say that Mariscotes was a target but have yet to establish a motive behind the killing.
