SAN PEDRO CITY — Two suspected members of an illegal drugs syndicate were killed in a shootout with policemen in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province early Friday, police said.

Only one of the slain suspects was identified by the police through his alias, “Playboy,” said Supt. Reynaldo Maclang, Sta. Rosa City police chief.

Maclang said police were still verifying the suspect’s real name and trying to identify his companion, as of Friday morning.

Policemen, he said, went to the village of Malusak in Sta. Rosa at 3 a.m. to serve a search warrant but the suspects fired at the team, forcing lawmen to fire back. Two other male suspects, who have yet to be identified, were also arrested.

At 8:30 a.m., Maclang said policemen were still conducting an inventory of guns and illegal drugs recovered from the suspects.  SFM
