North Cotabato mayoral candidate gunned down in Lanao del Sur

KIDAPAWAN CITY—A North Cotabato mayoral candidate was gunned down by a still unidentified suspect on Thursday.

Supt. Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato police spokesperson, said Floro Allado, who was running for mayor of Banisilan town as an independent candidate, died from multiple gunshot wounds when shot by a lone gunman in Wao, Lanao del Sur.

Insp. Jojie Barotas, Banisilan police chief, said Allado—who also ran and lost in the 2013 elections—was on his way home to Banisilan from a trip to a still unclear area and decided to stop for gas in Wao, which is Banisilan’s neighboring town, around 1:30 p.m.

Barotas said the details of the incident was unclear as of yet and that he was still coordinating with his counterpart in Wao. RC
