Nueva Ecija businessman killed in robbery
LLANERA, Nueva Ecija—A 42-year-old businessman was killed in a robbery undertaken by motorcycle-riding men in Barangay (village) Victoria at 7 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 13), according to a belated police report.
Rio Arocena, owner of a sari-sari store, was driving home with his 15-year-old daughter on a motorcycle when he was shot by the gunmen.
The girl was unhurt, but the suspects took Arocena’s bag containing P50,000 and two mobile telephones, said PO3 Oliver Cardona, who is investigating the case.
“(The) suspects immediately fled south,” Cardona said. Arocena was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Cabanatuan City.
Police recovered five spent cartridges fired from a cal. 45. hand gun.
