Santiago-Marcos tandem bares bets for senators

PRESIDENTIAL candidate Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago and running mate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. unveiled their senatorial candidates on Sunday, Valentine’s Day.

Santiago, who said that she has controlled her stage 4 lung cancer, made her second public appearance since the campaign launch in Ilocos Norte, but her running mate toured the whole Ilocos region until Friday.

On Sunday, a group of youth volunteers organized the event held at Ynares Stadium in Pasig City.

The senatorial candidates endorsed by Santiago and Marcos who attended were former Armed Forces chief Gen. Dionisio Santiago, Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno and Overseas Filipino Workers advocate Susan Ople.

Former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino was represented by his sister Analyn and former Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla was represented by his son Carlos.

Other senatorial candidates who were endorsed but did not make it to the event were: Sen. Ralph Recto, actor Edu Manzano, actress Alma Moreno, Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao and former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Joel Villanueva,

Most of the senatorial candidates endorsed by the tandem are also running under Liberal Party, United Nationalist Alliance and Partido Galing at Puso.
