Shared candidates comprise Santiago-Marcos Senate slate

The tandem of Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday bared their 10-member Senate slate for the upcoming national elections in May.

Most candidates in the lineup are also running under other political parties, including former Energy secretary Jericho Petilla, overseas Filipino worker advocate Susan Ople, former Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino, former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director General Joel Villanueva, actor-host Edu Manzano, Sen. Ralph Recto, Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.

Petilla, Villanueva, and Recto are running under the Liberal Party-led “Daang Matuwid” of Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo, while Romualdez, Pacquiao, and Ople are also under the opposition ticket of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance.

Manzano, Moreno, and Ople, meanwhile, also belong to Senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero’s “Partido Galing at Puso.”

Completing Santiago and Marcos’s slate is former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief director general Dionisio Santiago.

The senatorial lineup is set to be introduced during the “Youth for Miriam” event on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, where Santiago and Marcos are expected to attend at 6:30 p.m. IDL
