3 suspected drug pushers killed in South Cotabato shootout

KORONADAL CITY – Three suspected drug pushers were killed when they resisted arrest and traded fire with a combined team of police and anti-narcotics operatives from at least three towns in South Cotabato during an anti-drug raid in Surallah town on Friday.

Senior Inspector Bernie Faldas, police chief of Sto. Niño town–whose unit participated in the raid in Barangay Upper Sepaka–identified the slain illegal drug suspects as Ruel Kipad; Toni Silongan Oto; and Martinez Mopak, all residents of sitio Kuhan in Upper Sepaka village.

Faldas said his men, along with policemen from Surallah, Banga, the Regional Public Safety Battalion, the Special Investigation and Detection Team and Special Action Force, had surrounded the safe house of the suspects around 4 a.m.

He said instead of yielding, the suspects fired at the police–which resulted in a shootout.

The raiding team seized suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and firearms from the slain suspects, Faldas said. CDG
