Being away from home due to nonstop campaigning and attending to various meetings under various temperatures had taken its toll on Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, according to his closest aide Bong Go.
“We were away from his home for more than 10 days and the rigid schedule led to an acute bronchitis and severe migraine,” Go told the Inquirer in a telephone interview.
Go said, Duterte had been examined by a physician and advised to rest.
“The cough and colds triggered the migraine, but he is all right. He just has to take a brief break,” he added.
Go declined to say if they are still in Manila during the interview Friday morning, but said Duterte will allow interviews in Davao City later.
Duterte, the standard bearer of PDP-Laban in the May elections was not able to give his speech as guest speaker of the Philippine Society of Hypertension and Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society at the Crown hotel in Ortigas on Thursday afternoon.

He was few steps away from the convention venue when he stopped and went back to his hotel room.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Duterte’s running mate, pitched in for him. The most applauded part of his speech was when he mentioned that both of them stepping down from office in the event they win if criminality is not solved after six months in office.
