Olongapo cops arrest 33 for drugs, gun ban violations

OLONGAPO CITY — The Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Zambales arrested 33 suspects on Thursday (Feb. 11) for possessing weapons in violation of the election gun ban and for illegal drugs.

Chief Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, head of the CIDG Zambales, said the suspects were arrested in Barangay Pag-asa at 1 a.m. on the strength of search warrants issued by a local court.

Seven of the arrested suspects were women, Mendoza said.

Confiscated from the suspects were 15 sachets allegedly containing shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride), drug paraphernalia, an improvised shotgun, a .38-revolver, and cash.

One of the suspects, Raymond Rosales, was the subject of an intensive manhunt for his alleged involvement in robberies and drug trafficking in the city and nearby Subic town, Mendoza said.  SFM
