Soldier killed, 1 wounded in NPA attack in Kalinga

BAGUIO CITY —  An attack by suspected communist rebels on Thursday (Feb. 11) left one soldier dead, and another wounded in the Cordilleras’ Kalinga province, according to the Cordillera police.

Private Roderick Azada was killed when gunmen attacked around 50 Army soldiers assigned to the 50th Infantry Battalion’s Bravo company at Sitio Bacras, Apatan village in Pinukpok town at 11:45 a.m., police said.

The fight left Corporal Joel De Leon wounded.

Police set up checkpoints at Sitio Poblacion Taga at Junction Pinukpok village to contain the gun battle.
