The Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Thursday announced that the flood produced from a damaged pipeline in Sta. Mesa, Manila has subsided.
The flood, which affected some areas along Ramon Magsaysay Ave., has eased off by 10:30 a.m. after closing adjacent valves further upstream of the leaking portion of the 1050-mm primary pipe.
However, plugging the leak in the pipe has sparked unscheduled water service interruptions in various areas outside Manila, affecting more than 200,000 Maynilad customers.

The service interruptions have affected customers from Manila, Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Muntinlupa and Cavite.
“Affected by the emergency service interruptions are some 200,000 accounts in Manila, Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Muntinlupa and Cavite. Some of these households will have no water, while others will have low water pressure,” the statement of Maynilad, which was sent Thursday afternoon to INQUIRER.net, read.
Maynilad said that the repair of the busted pipe will take eight hours.
It also said that normal water supply in Manila will return at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with customers in other areas expected to get normal water supply by 8:30 p.m.
“We apologize to our customers and the public for the inconvenience this situation has caused,” the statement added.
The flooding in Sta. Mesa began Wednesday night after an isolation valve in the said pipeline gave way. CDG
