A damaged pipe of the Maynilad Water Services Inc. has caused flooding in some areas in Sta. Mesa, Manila according to a Radyo Inquirer report on Thursday.

The 1050-mm pipe, which broke Wednesday night, caused some areas along Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard to remain flooded until Thursday morning.

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, Maynilad spokesperson Grace Laxa said that there was a scheduled leak repair in the said area when Maynilad personnel noticed water flowing from the pipe.

“Merong scheduled leak repair ng 9 p.m. dapat matatapos siya ng 9 a.m. today. Kaya lang, habang gingawa namin, napansin nila na may mga tumatagas kahit pinatay na natin yung valve na dapat ayusin,” Laxa said.

Laxa said that Maynilad personnel are still searching for the source of the leak.

Around 4,000 water service connections were affected by the said damaged pipe, she added.

Maynilad has already deployed water tankers to distribute water to the affected residents. AJH with a report from Erwin Aguilon, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM/RAM
