Pimentel defends Duterte: ‘No malice’ on ‘kissing spree’
No malice.
Such was the statement of the Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III over the “kissing spree” of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte towards his women supporters in Pampanga.
Pimentel is the President of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), where Duterte is its standard-bearer and named the party’s new chair.
“I think people will be forgiving and understanding at tsaka (and besides) the video and the photos do not tell the whole story,” Pimentel said in an interview with reporters on Tuesday.
“Basta ang importante dito, wala pong malisya doon (The important thing here there is no malice there) and these are his supporters,” the senator said.
He said the supporters of Duterte were just “enjoying” and celebrating with the feisty presidential candidate.
Pimentel told Duterte to just be himself and enjoy the 90-day national election campaign.
“Ang advice ko kay Mayor Duterte (My advice to may Mayor Duterte is), just be yourself, enjoy the campaign,” he said. RAM
