Chopped dolphin found in Naga

THE remains of baby dolphin weighing around 20 kilos was found chopped up in a fish port in barangay Tuyan, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Police said the dolphin was brought to the fish port by a certain Jong-jong.

There were reports that the dolphin was already dead when it was caught by Jong-jong and other fishermen.

Martin Panilag, a councilor in barangay Inuburan, said he rushed to the fish port after learning that a dolphin was being sold there by fishermen.

Panilag said people in the fish port scampered when he arrived. Panilag said some parts of the dolphin were left and were later buried.

Panilag said residents in the barangay should be reminded that selling dolphins is prohibited under the marine life law.
