On Feb. 4, 1916, by virtue of Act No. 2612 of the Philippine Commission, the Philippine National Bank (PNB) was established to replace the small government-owned Agricultural Bank. The PNB’s first head office was the Masonic Temple located in Escolta, Manila. Since 2007, the former government bank has been 100 percent privatized.
