CEBU CITY — A passenger jeepney caught fire in the middle of Archbishop Reyes Avenue in Barangay Barrio Luz, Cebu City, about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The jeepney was heading to Colon Street in downtown Cebu City from Barangay Talamban when something sparked behind the driver’s seat. Fire then broke out, prompting the passengers to scamper out of the vehicle.

No one was hurt as two mini-firetrucks from Barangay Barrio Luz were immediately dispatched to put out the fire.

The fire triggered a bottleneck along Archbishop Reyes Avenue.

Barrio Luz watchman Delfin Ventura said they had yet to identify the jeepney driver.

He said they called on the Cebu City Fire Station to investigate the fire.  SFM
