Honasan: I’ll be first to stand up vs Binay if corruption proven
Sen. Gringo Honasan on Wednesday said he will be the first one to stand up against his running mate Vice President Jejomar Binay if the corruption allegations against the latter would be proven.
In an interview with radio DZMM, Honasan said it would be “unfair” if he would express his thoughts on the corruption allegations hounding the United Nationalist Alliance standard bearer, but noted that he will not tolerate such acts if up proven by the courts.
“Para sa akin, unfair kung mag-express ako ng opinyon (kay VP Binay). Pero sabi ko, kapag sinabi ng korte na may pananagutan siya, ako ang unang tatayo,” Honasan said.
The Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee, in its report, recommended the filing of plunder charges against Binay and other personalities tagged in the construction of the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.
Binay is also facing graft indictment before the Office of the Ombudsman over the design and construction of the P.2.28-billion cark park building when he was still Makati mayor.
The Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee wrapped up its probe on corruption allegations against the opposition leader in late January after 25 hearings.
