LEGAZPI CITY—Two suspected communist rebels were killed in a clash with Army soldiers in Bato town in Camarines Sur province on Wednesday, a report reaching the Bicol regional police headquarters here said.

Senior Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said the report did not identify the slain rebels but soldiers reported recovering four M-16 rifles from the clash site.

Calubaquib said a platoon of Army soldiers was patrolling the remote village of San Isidro in Bato at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday when they clashed with a group of 10 New People’s Army rebels.
