ILIGAN CITY – Three men were held at a Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) checkpoint –manned by soldiers and policemen–in Barangay Tipanoy here for possession of unlicensed firearms on Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Allan Abalde, chief of the city police’s Station 4, said the men–whom he did not identify–were on separate vehicles flagged down by the personnel manning the checkpoint.

Upon verification, none of them could show proper documents for the three .45 caliber pistols seized from their possession, Abalde said.

Charges for violation of the comprehensive firearms law and the Comelec gunban were now being prepared against the three men, he said.
