Police warns of new investment scam
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has warned the public of a new investment scam following the arrest of three people in Cubao, Quezon City, who are members of what appeared to be a pyramiding ring.
Authorities led by Police Chief Insp. Nino Lope Briones of the QC Criminal Investigation Detection Group nabbed the suspects at a hotel along Imperial Street on Thursday and confiscated a total of P150,000 from a scam that would earn 40 percent of the investment in only 14 days.
The suspects were identified as Bonjomar Laguna of Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City; Michael Salagoste of Esguerra Street, Tondo, Manila; and Efraim Arilla of Bagumbayan South, Navotas City.
QCPD said the arrest was conducted after the Jan. 20 complaint of a certain Camille Ann Dizon of Taguig City, who said she did not receive the promised earnings from her investment.
Dizon said she was convinced by the suspects to make another investment amounting to P200,000, assuring her a recovery of the original P150,000 she had invested and its 40-percent earnings.
Dizon agreed to meet with the suspects at the hotel where the arrest was conducted after the three received marked money from the victim.
